Client Spotlight

Ethan is one of our original clients who has been with us at Caring Pathways since our first opening year in 2020! We interviewed Ethan’s mother, Bunny G., to hear about her and Ethan's experience with Caring Pathways.

When asked how she found Caring Pathways initially, Bunny explained, “We were at another program before that and it was just way too far, I was driving 200 miles per week and paying too much to go there! So I talked to [CP President] Jan Kelsay, went and looked at the place, and got great vibes!”

“He’s been at CP ever since and loves Jake and loves Alfred! They’re wonderful and we want to keep them happy!”

When asked how Ethan is liking our program, she described how she “asked him last week if he wants to go to ‘school’ tomorrow (Caring Pathways), and he excitedly replied ‘SCHOOL!’ So he’s observant enough and 'with it' enough to know he wants to go to Caring Pathways and we can tell.”

According to Bunny, Ethan has learned greater independence since starting at Caring Pathways.

“He has his own bookshelf of some of his stuff and he loves rotating activities and getting to move on to the next one. He’s learned more independence,” Bunny shared.

At this moment during our interview, Ethan exclaimed, “I want more cookies please!”

We asked Bunny how Ethan likes to interact with the other clients and how he gets along with everyone there. Bunny replied, “He likes to be near the other clients and poke at them a little. That’s sort of his way of interacting with them. He likes seeking them out so he can sit by them!” Ethan’s favorite activity at Caring Pathways is painting and the dancing!

“He comes home and we paint together sometimes after he gets to do that at Caring Pathways. He loves the activities, talking to everybody, and getting the attention from CP staff,” Bunny said.

“He also loves the dancing. They all love to listen to music on YouTube together. And then here at home, we put the same songs on and he gets up, excited, and begins dancing all over the place!”

When asked about what she loves about Caring Pathways, she explained, “THE STAFF! They’re willing to work with us and Ethan. They’re really open and always keeping me alert. For example, with Ethan’s migraines, Alfred wll text me and say ‘hey are you ok with us giving him something for this?’ They’re just really alert and so supportive.”

She continued to explain how Caring Pathways is “not a warehouse, no handing clients a packet of coloring for the day. They have different activities - Ethan loves the activities. They’re really loving at Caring Pathways - they actually really care and that’s hard to find.”
